Continuing an annual tradition and posting the first sunrise of the new year.
Spent the rest of the day at Spectacle Island. The Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands sponsor a trip every year on January 1. I had been hoping for snow but didn’t really mind the unseasonably warm, beautiful day. This is the view of the Boston skyline from the dock on Spectacle.
and some more skyline views…
The views from the other side of the Island are quite different.
There was very little wind – I don’t remember ever seeing the water quite this still.
Different season – different look!
Realized I didn’t really miss the flowers – just a different palette.
Some views from the walk to the top of the north drumlin
I was using my telephoto 70- 30mm lens and experimented with lots of different points of focus for different depth of field. I loved this view of the soft grass and fences.
A few from the harbor and one from the return trip.

I especially love the soft grasses and the undulating fences - I see you weren't alone out there that day. Especially taken by the 6,5,2 + 7,6,5 + b + w ocean shots - in addition to the lone naked tree against the blue sky - solitary - juxtaposing the season shots are also very interesting...
I could have photographed those grasses all day! thought of you when taking those # shots!
