Martha’s Vineyard

_DSC9190

This is the third year that I’ve been fortunate enough to spend a week in October on this very beautiful Island. The harbor in Vinyard Haven where I stay always grabs my attention – mostly sail boats and lots of wooden hulls and spars.

The first place I go is to the Aquinnah Cliffs (Gay Head) – sacred land for the Wampanoag Tribe. It was a stunning day – very hide tide, threatening weather. It’s more than a little inspiring to walk along that beach. But first the trail down to the beach.

and then the cliffs – which are mostly made of clay.

This is one of my favorite shots

There are other beaches – I spent time at lots of them

Of course the Lighthouses

and the really BIG sky!

Wow, I feel as though I was walking in your footsteps...as though I was right there ! That's quite an accomplishment ! I love your favorite photo too - really spectacular - you can almost hear the pounding surf....I love the lighthouse with the telephone wires - you are right, the light is magical.
